San Gabriel Valley

San Gabriel Valley

San Gabriel Valley is a significant area of Los Angeles County, home to around one-fifth of the county’s population. It encompasses a sprawling area of 400 square miles, divided into 31 cities and a number of unincorporated communities.

The valley’s population of 1.8 million represents a highly diverse mix of cultures and ethnicities, assimilated over the area’s long history. The San Gabriel Mission established in 1771 gave birth to the community, which later on became an important agricultural economy. Over the years, people of various ethnicities came to work in farms and ranches here, and, along with the early Mexican and Spanish settlers, became integral members of the community.

San Gabriel Valley today is a dynamic conglomeration of industries, neighborhoods, cultures, and interests. International trade is an important economic sector, along with numerous small businesses that boost the valley’s entrepreneurial spirit.

Two major rail lines and seven freeways give residents great access to the various communities within the valley and beyond. Residents, however, don’t need to go far to find employment and economic opportunities, thanks to the numerous businesses of all sizes found right in the valley.
